Maintaining Your Velux Blinds

Maintaining your velux blinds can be an issue since these are often used in high windows and skylights but it is no way impossible. With little effort you can maintain your velux blinds to maintain their new and crisped look. Here is how it can be done without trouble.

Like for any other blinds the material used in the velux blind would determine the right way to clean it. For aluminum or wooden blinds dusting with a feather duster or wiping them with a soft wet cloth should have been enough.

Anyway, to clean the velux blinds you would need,
  • A bucket of soap solution.
  • A bucket of warm water.
  • A piece of soft cloth or tea towel, and
  • A piece of dry cloth.

To clean, soak the cloth in the soap solution and squeeze the excess water. Then wipe the blinds with long horizontal strokes. While cleaning keep in mind the cord that is holding the blinds together. Repeat the process with each of the slat until all are clean. Remember to keep the soap solution as diluted as possible since soap solution can leave a mark in your blinds.

For fabric blinds you can also remove the velux blinds completely from its panel and dip it into a soap solution. You may then hang it back into the panel and leave it to drip dry. You can also use the blower to accelerate the drying process.

With little maintenance you can keep your velux blinds look new for a longer time.
